Mayors for Monarchs - Volunteer Opportunity

HELP OUR POLLINATORS THRIVE!
Volunteer for the Mayors for Monarchs Initiative

Mayor Cervoni has committed our community's support to the Mayors for Monarchs Pledge, a national effort to create and protect habitats for monarch butterflies and other important pollinators.

A space on the south side of the Carriage House, facing Prince Street, has been designated as a pollinator garden. Anyone interested in volunteering to help with light gardening and maintenance is welcome
to participate.

PROCLAMATION: Mary Mushinsky Day

Mary Mushinsky has served the people of Wallingford and the State of Connecticut since her first election to the Connecticut House of Representatives in 1980. Throughout her 46 years of service, she has held key leadership roles, including Assistant Majority Leader, Assistant Majority Whip, Deputy Speaker, and, the latest, Assistant Deputy Speaker Pro Tempore.

In Wallingford, she co-founded the Quinnipiac River Linear Trail Advisory Committee securing major funding to expand the regional pedestrian and bicycle trail, in addition to supporting local initiatives in energy conservation and substance use prevention.

Her decades of public service have been marked by dedication, integrity, and unwavering commitment to environmental stewardship and the prosperity of her community and therefore, Mayor Cervoni has proclaimed May 23, 2026 as Mary Mushinsky Day.

SENIOR PERMITS

Wallingford seniors (65 years and older) and residents under 65 years of age who have been issued a Medicare card may purchase a $5 permit and receive a coupon book.

TO GET A PERMIT AND COUPON BOOK: Coupon Books can be purchased for the entire season at the Resident Disposal Center. The price of the $5 permit will not be prorated or refunded. Additionally, Coupon Books can be purchased at the Senior Center during the month of April. To apply for this program, an eligible resident should bring:

- CT Driver’s License or CT Identification Card (available at DMV) with a Wallingford address
- a valid Medicare card (if applicable)
- AND vehicle registration* showing a Wallingford address for the vehicle that will be used to deliver trash to the disposal site. *A permit will not be issued for a commercial vehicle.

Join us to kickoff Wallingford’s 10-year comprehensive plan addressing goals for future land use, development, transportation, conservation, and much more. The meeting will begin with a presentation of the plan goals, timeline, and structure. After the presentation, share your feedback and ideas you want to see implemented in the future through a series of interactive visioning boards and maps. Members of the project team and Town staff will assist in guiding discussion and be available to answer questions.
