The state's Extreme Hot Weather Protocol has been activated effective from 11AM Tuesday, July 14th through 5PM on Thursday July 16, 2026.
During this time, the Wallingford Family YMCA will serve as an official cooling center for community residents seeking relief from hazardous heat conditions. Community members may use YMCA facilities at no charge. Simply present a valid photo ID and complete a guest registration form.
Cooling Center Hours:
Tuesday, July 14th - Thursday, July 16, 2026
8 North Turnpike Road: 5AM - 9PM
81 South Elm Street: Closed to the public due to licensed Summer Camp Capacity
Residents are encouraged to stay hydrated, limit outdoor activity during peak heat hours, and check on elderly neighbors, family members, and others who may be vulnerable to extreme temperatures.
