Department Responsibilities
The Wallingford Department of Youth and Social Services provides programs, activities and services that promote both a positive, healthy community and develop healthy, capable young people and families. We also provide services to families and individuals in need during times of crisis.

Current Volunteer Opportunities in the Community
Quinnipiac River Linear Trail Advisory Committee of Wallingford, CT (Community Lake, 291 Hall Avenue, Wallingford)

- Offering 3 hours of community service to volunteers, need help with; set up, serving hot cocoa & cookies, scavenger hunt assistants, and breaking down event.
Wallingford Public Library (200 North Main St. Wallingford, CT)
- The library offers both ongoing and as-needed volunteer opportunities in areas such as the Children’s Department, the Collaboratory, marketing, event programming, and more. (Ages 13- 18)

Wallingford Center Inc. (144 Center St., Wallingford)
- Garland Hanging on November 15, 2025 from 9:00 - 12:30 PM
- Volunteers will be outside (so dress warm!) and help with heavy lifting.
- Holiday Stroll on Friday, December 5, 2025 from 5:00 - 8:30 PM
- Will need 2-3 volunteers to hand out maps, candy canes, and ensure merchants have plenty of raffle tickets.
